Riveting, Not Rocket Science

Instructor: Danielle Baker

Students will have their choice of one of several project packs that will allow them to create a stunning, one-of-a-kind pendant embellished with riveted components. The cold-connection technique of basic riveting will be discussed.

What supplies should the students bring?

  • Riveting hammer or ball peen hammer,
  • steel bench block,
  • basic wire-working tools
    • (needle-nose pliers,
    • round-nose pliers,
    • flush cutters), &
  • a great attitude!

Project packs for members to choose from

Instructor Bio:

Danielle fell in love with the concept of jewelry fabrication in the late 1990s when she first moved to Austin. Since the beginning, first working with wire, she has expanded into basic metalsmithing, PMC, resin and alcohol inks. She has even been brave enough to attempt a random seed bead project or two (she has a fear of teeny, tiny beads and beading needles...). Claiming Austin as her adopted home, she shares a home with her husband six fur-children.

DON'T FORGET THE BEAD JAR

What is the bead jar?  The bead jar is a collection of odds and ends (beads) collected from all of  our members and raffled off once a year.  You never know what you will find - one person's trash is another persons treasure! So it only gets to be fun if everyone remembers to bring those unwanted extra beads and things to help fill the jar.
