Austin Bead Society Workshop

The Austin Bead Society Workshops are open to any Austin Bead Society member in good standing.    Workshops are usually conducted on Saturdays approximately every other month except during the summer.

If it is a "for fee" workshop and if there are seats available, the positions will be available to the public at an additional fee.

Making Jewelry with Polymer Clay
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This beginner level class is a skills based class to teach basic techniques to launch your journey into the world of Polymer Clay.

  • Pendants/cabochons
  • Simple jellyroll cane
  • Easy Mokume Gane
  • Finishing techniques
  • Sanding/buffing
  • Antiquing
  • Drilling baked clay
  • Piercing raw clay

The workshop will run from 10 am to 5 pm, 1 hr lunch break. Maximum of 20 participants. Class fee of $50 includes clay, instruction sheets, and use of tools. Since this is a skills class, there are no finished projects planned, but you will complete several samples to take home. The purpose of the class is to teach basic skills to help get you started- and maybe addicted- with polymer clay.

Supply list:
If you choose to bring some extra clay to work with, we recommend Fimo soft (NOT classic), Premo! by Sculpy, Studio by Sculpy (NOT Sculpy III), Kato polyclay, Pardo, or Cernit.

Bring any polymer clay tools you already have.
